TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahja Purnama (BTP), known as Ahok, for the first time tried riding on the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transportation or MRT Jakarta on Friday, June 5.
Ahok seemed to enjoy his trip on the first underground train in Indonesia. "It’s good and very clean,” he told Tempo Saturday, July 6.
Basuki said that the facility at MRT Jakarta even better than those in other countries since Jakarta uses the latest technology. "Because it is newly built, so it feels better [than the MRT in other countries]," he added.
He uploaded four pictures of himself, wearing a blue shirt and brown trouser, during the visit to an MRT station to his Twitter account @basuki_btp.
A number of passengers were excited to take pictures with the former Jakarta Governor. Ahok’s position was separated from the others.
MRT Jakarta construction was firstly built during the governance of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Basuki as the deputy governor. This is the first time BTP tried the train since his release from Mako Brimob. He also took footages for his YouTube content.
